“Sadako” is just days away

Come see the performance of “Sadako” on December 7th at 1:30 or 7:00.  This opera is based on the story of “Sadako and the Thousand Paper Cranes.”  Come see our grades 5, 6 and 7’s bring this story of hope, loss, friendship and courage to life on stage.  Everyone is welcome to the production!

Tickets are not needed for either show.  We will be collecting food for the Burnaby Neighbourhood House at the door.  Thank you!

Save the date for our upcoming ART SHOW & BEYOND! on Thursday, Nov. 3rd from 4:30 – 7:00 pm.  We invite families to stroll through our building and immerse themselves in the art infused learning community that Confederation Park thrives on.  This is the PAC’s biggest fundraiser of the year.  Come on out!  You won’t want to miss it!

Jan 17 ~ Young People’s Concert

Young People’s Concert Series for Grades 4 to 7. This season marks the 55th year that the Burnaby School District has sponsored a Young People’s Concert Series to provide additional opportunity for the District’s elementary school students to access a wide variety of performing arts presentations. It is highly recommended that all students attend these wonderful performances.

Performances will take place in the Michael J. Fox Theatre at Burnaby School Secondary School for students enrolled in Grades 4-7. We don’t know the exact date our Confederation Park students will attend the series, but it will be within the weeks listed below.  The 2022-2023 series will include the following artists:

D.O. Gibson’s show “Black Canadian 365” January 17, 2023

D.O. Gibson is a Guinness World Record setting rapper, published author and University graduate that has been inspiring hundreds of thousands of youth since 2001. He set a Guinness World Record for longest freestyle rap by rapping for 8 hours and 45 minutes. Gibson has performed at over 3000 schools. He’s toured Canada, US, Asia, Europe and had ten videos play on Much Music including one where Drake made a cameo. Gibson’s school program has been featured on CTV’s Etalk, Toronto Star, CBC, and in 2021 he guest co-hosted Entertainment Tonight Online.

TapCo November 21, 2022

The future of a beloved art form is in the safe hands and award-winning feet of local youth. TapCo is a Youth Tap Ensemble (YTE) that stages show-stopping performances and in-demand classes to hundreds of enthusiastic young people every year at schools, Children’s Festivals and other venues. TapCo has performed to over 100,000 youth in elementary schools across the Lower Mainland and B.C, offering young audiences diverse dance exposure and a taste of the rich history of the art form of Tap Dance.

These concerts for your children are an element of our school music program and all Grade 4 to 7 students will attend.

We will accept only payments made online through School Cash Online. No cash or cheques will be accepted at school. It is available on School Cash as of today, Sept 22nd.

The one- time cost of the 2022-2023 Young People’s Concert Series is:  Please select the option on School Cash that matches the number of children in your family attending YPC.

$20.00 – for 1 child
$15.00 – each for 2 children in the family
$13.33 – each for 3 or more children in the family

All prices include transportation via school bus to and from the theatre.  If you have any questions or concerns, please contact your child’s teacher.

National Day for Truth and Reconciliation ~ Sept 30

On Friday, September 30th, 2022 school will not be in session to honour the children who never returned home and Survivors of residential schools, as well as their families and communities.
Public commemoration of the tragic and painful history and ongoing impacts of residential schools is a vital component of the reconciliation process.

Welcome Back………

Dear Families,

Welcome Back!

We hope you have had a wonderful summer break and are feeling ready for a new school year at Confederation Park Elementary!  We are ready and excited to see all of you back in the upcoming days and we are looking forward to hearing about your summer adventures. Students will be returning to last year’s classes for this week to reconnect and share.  We plan to move students to permanent classes on Monday September 12th once we receive district approval.

A reminder that Tuesday September 6th students will attend for one hour from 8:50 – 9:50AM. Drop-off and pick-up areas will remain the same as last year for this first week.  New students will be welcomed at the office and then placed in classrooms for the week. Our first full day of school for students in grades 1-7 will be on Wednesday, September 7th.  School will finish at 3:02PM on this day.
