Dance Program
Our students are provided with opportunities to experience, understand and value the language and art of dance. The students participate actively to develop skills and self-expression. There is a focus on both independent and cooperative learning in a safe, risk-taking environment. We also value making connections through interdisciplinary means to further enhance student knowledge and experience.
Drama Program
Our students work on developing a variety of skills including: improvisation, role-play, as well as performance based skills (i.e. tone of voice, pitch, movement, body awareness and eye contact). Students participate individually and cooperatively in groups through a number of activities including: public speaking, reader’s theatre, story telling through puppet shows, charades and games. Our focus is on making connections through interdisciplinary means to further enhance student knowledge and experience.
Music Program
In Music, our students participate actively through singing, speech, body percussion, movement and instrumental playing using the Orff process. As part of the development of musical skills, activities include improvising, composing and performing. Students play a wide variety of percussion instruments, including hand chimes, Orff instruments, taiko drums and recorder. We explore the connections between music and other curricular areas to inspire life-long learning.
Visual Art Program
Our students use a variety of media to understand and explore the elements and principles of art design through weekly experiences in the art studio. Students study art history, develop their personal art style and reflect on and respond to various artistic forms. Projects are creatively integrated into many other curricular areas or theme based topics.
