Each year, September 30 marks the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. This day honours the children who never returned home and Survivors of residential schools, as well as their families and communities.

We will be acknowledging this day through art and conversations culminating on Friday, September 27.

Friday the 27th is also Orange Shirt Day and we encourage staff and students to wear Orange on this day.

We invite families to join us at a community gathering commemorating Orange Shirt Day in the school gym at 1:15 followed by an early dismissal at 2:05 pm.

Welcome Conversations

Welcome Conversations are happening this week and next depending on teacher’s availability.  These conversations are meant to give families a chance to share important information about their child(ren) and to set some goals for this school year. We look forward to connecting and learning more about our students!

Please use exterior classroom doors to enter and exit classrooms for your meeting.

Donations are welcome online or in person.  Next week we will start our “Toonies for Terry” donations and students from Division 5 will come around to the classes in the mornings to collect donations.

Book Fair – September 23-27, 2024

Dear Families,

The Library Book Fair is next week! September 23rd to 27th.  It will be open for sales at lunch and afterschool. Friday is an early dismissal so there will be no afterschool sales.

On your child’s library day, they will be able to purchase books, or browse the shelves and write a wish list for what they “hope” to purchase. Each child knows that is it entirely up to their parent on the decision to purchase a book(s). We will be accepting cash and card!

Looking forward to seeing you all there!

Slow Down in School Zones

Mornings can be dark—especially with unpredictable weather. We are asking families who drop off and or pick up their children to be aware and reminded of the following:

  1. Speed Limit: Please note that the roads surrounding the school are in a 30 km speed limit zone.
  2. Please cross the road at CROSSWALKS ONLY. Drivers may not see children crossing mid-block or through cars.
  3. Please hold the hand of younger children to ensure they do not dart into surrounding roads.
  4. Please be aware of surroundings before leaving the parking spot you are in.

Please help us make the local area safer for all of your children, our staff and community members.

Welcome Back!!!

We hope you are enjoying your summer and we look forward to seeing you back at school next week!

On Tuesday, September 3rd, the first day of school, students will return to their classroom from the previous year. The primary objective for the morning is to take accurate attendance, so it is important for all students to attend. Students should arrive by 8:50 a.m. and will be dismissed at 10:00 a.m.

New students to Confederation Park School should wait at the Pandora St. entrance, where they will be greeted and escorted to the art room.

Wednesday, September 3rd through Friday, September 6th are full days for grade 1-7 students, and they will continue to stay in their classroom from last year.  Students will be engaging with the theme “Finding Our Place” and participating in activities designed to strengthen community and relationships.  We plan to move students into their new classes on Monday, Monday, Sept. 9th.

A special warm welcome to our new Kindergarten families. Please refer to the gradual entry schedule that was shared with you in June.
