Program of Choice – Education Through the Arts

 

 

 

Education Through the Arts

Confederation Park Elementary is a Program of Choice in the Burnaby School District.

At our school, the Arts are integrated into all areas and at all grade levels.  We are a unique educational program that integrates the Fine Arts strands of music, dance, visual arts, and drama with core academic subjects.

To register for the Education for the Arts Program, Burnaby residents, please submit a Cross-District Application Form.  Non-Burnaby residents, please submit an Out of District Application Form. Applications for the 2025-2026 year, received in February will be given priority.

We are one of 10 schools from Canada and the US to receive the Arts Schools Network Exemplary School Designation.

The Arts Schools Network is dedicated to excellence and leadership in arts education.  Their press release says this about Confederation Park Elementary:

“At Confederation Park Elementary, students and teachers interact with and through the arts. The school is committed to delivering a rich and authentic arts-integrated curriculum where students explore themes, ideas and concepts through various creative processes and demonstrate learning in a variety of ways. The daily sharing and presenting of student work provides students with opportunities to engage in the arts and develop skills in the competencies of communication, creative and critical thinking. Students also further develop their craft of music, art, drama and dance through regular weekly lessons in accordance with the Ministry of Education’s curriculum. Student learning is celebrated and communicated with regular performances and showcases of their work both formal and informal. Through these sharing opportunities process is honored and value is given to the learning that takes place through the course of the artistic connection. In addition, students and teachers participate in specialized projects where new skills are developed and enhanced through Artist-in-Residence programs. The school’s Parent Advisory Council (PAC) is invaluable and has a pivotal role in all aspects of the school community.”

Exemplary School Award – Arts Schools Network

Confederation Park Elementary School has received an Exemplary School Award from the Arts Schools Network.

This five-year designation is awarded for 2024-2029 and is in recognition of our commitment to excellence! Confederation Park was one of 10 schools from Canada and the US to receive this award. For the full press release click HERE.

Two staff members attended the ASN Annual conference in Washington, DC to receive our award.  We thank our entire staff for their dedication to the Arts and their commitment to providing our students with learning opportunities through and of the Arts.  We also thank our school community for their support of our unique and wonderful school!!!

This year the holy month of Ramadan begins on Saturday, March 1st, the ninth month of the lunar Islamic calendar and continues for 29 or 30 days.  Wishing you peace and joy in Ramadan.

Register for the Education Through the Arts Program

Registration for the 2025-2026 year is open.  Registrations received in the month of February will be given priority.

All registrations are done online at https://burnabyschools.ca/registration/

To register for the Education for the Arts Program, Burnaby residents, please register at your local attendance area school and then submit a Cross-District Application Form.  Non-Burnaby residents, please submit an Out of District Application FormPlease submit your Application Forms by email  to confederationpark.info@burnabyschools.ca.

Kindergarten registrations, new registrations, Cross-District, Out-of-District, Language Programs and Programs of Choice applications will be given priority if submitted in the month of February.  Applications received after March 1st will be placed on a waitlist.

Recycling Rally – February 10-14, 2025

This Valentine’s Day, lets show the planet some love!

We’re calling on all families to bring in your beverage containers to recycle and help us take care of our beautiful Earth!   Every container counts, and together we can make a difference.

What to bring: empty beverage containers (plastic, glass, and aluminum).

Let’s come together and show our commitment to a cleaner, greener future!  Spread the word and let’s make this Recycle Rally a huge success!  Together we can create a brighter future for our planet!
