Principal’s Message

Hello and welcome to Confederation Park!  Our school is an Education Through the Arts Elementary School which caters for students K – 7.  Alongside our arts program, we offer students opportunities to develop their academic, social and emotional skills through leadership groups and various sports activities and events.  Athletic opportunities include sports such as cross-country, volleyball and basketball. Confederation Park staff is also committed to providing a safe, caring and inclusive community for all, that teaches students to recognize and appreciate diversity, and encourages growth that focuses on the individual child.

As an Education Through the Arts School, there are several ways in which we provide and sustain our arts programming.  Students have the opportunity to engage in the visual arts, dance, music and drama on a weekly basis. We also offer a wide range of artistic experiences to our students through the use of Artists-In-Residents, skilled teachers, as well as an arts-infused curriculum.

Through the arts-infused curriculum, students are given an opportunity to explore themes, ideas and concepts through various creative processes and demonstrate learning in a variety of ways. Through our Artist-In-Residence program, students are given the opportunity to participate in specialized projects where new skills are developed and enhanced through the guidance of artistic experts. This year we are excited to welcome an African team, ‘Kunda’ who will lead our students through interactive music and dance workshops focused on different aspects of African culture.

We are also fortunate to have parents in our community who are also skilled in the arts and technology, who donate their time to work with our students and engage them in further artistic learning opportunities. We have a very active and supportive PAC who help fund many of our initiatives and are a great support to our community.

This year we will be hosting an interactive evening of artistic experiences entitled Art Show and Beyond.  This will take place on Thursday, November 3rd between 4:30-7:00PM. This is a fundraising event supported by our PAC which allows us to showcase the beautiful artwork of our students whilst having students and families participate in various artistic and curriculum activities.

Finally, we will be producing a school-wide musical, ‘Lion King’, this year which will take place at the Michael J. Fox theatre on May 17th at 7PM. This performance will include all members of our student community and will allow us the chance to make various curriculum connections through the show themes.  Please join us for this exciting event in May!

If you have any questions about our programming, please contact the school at 604-296-9010 or email me directly at  Meanwhile, check out our school website to stay connected and to receive further information.

Yours sincerely,
